Michele Lynch is excited to have just completed choreography for the movie, THE LAST FIVE YEARS by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Richard LaGravanese and the movie JOYFUL NOISE by Todd Graff starring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. She also choreographed Dolly Parton’s BETTER DAY World Tour.
Her choreography was recently seen in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE at Second Stage Theater directed by James Lapine and starring Stephanie J Block and Will Swenson.
On Broadway, Michele choreographed EVERYDAY RAPTURE directed by Michael Mayer, (“Michele Lynch’s choreography is double edged, mixing showbiz slickness with the awkwardness of the terminally introspective.” – Ben Brantley, NY Times) and THE COAST OF UTOPIA directed by Jack O’Brien.
For Opera she has choreographed three highly successful productions of SHOWBOAT directed by Francesca Zambello at The Kennedy Center, Chicago Lyric Opera, and Houston Grand Opera.
Michele choreographed a benefit of CABARET at The Public Theatre, starring Anne Hathaway. Off-Broadway she choreographed WE THE PEOPLE at the Lucille Lortel Theater, garnering her a Joe E. Calloway award nomination. She choreographed two National Tours of well reknown TV series, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRE and HAPPY DAYS, THE MUSICAL. She won a Connecticut Critics Circle award for her choreography when HAPPY DAYS played at Goodspeed Opera House.
Michele was Jerry Mitchell’s associate choreographer for many years. She worked with him on Broadway with the original companies of THE FULL MONTY and HAIRSPRAY, as well as setting productions of those shows in London, Australia, Germany, Toronto and National Tours. She also assisted Jerry on the movie GEPETTO starring Drew Carey, in Las Vegas on the show EFX, the second National Tour of JEKYLL and HYDE, and the movie LIBERTY HEIGHTS by Barry Levinson.
Her passion is choreographing new musicals and a few favorites are IDAHO, EMPIRE, SINGLE GIRLS GUIDE, GO-GO BEACH and BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S.
Regionally, Michele has choreographed at the Mark Taper Forum, Yale Repertory Theater, Capital Repertory Theater, Ford’s Theater, the St. Louis MUNY, North Carolina Theater, Stamford Center for the Arts, Casa Manana, Fox Theater Detroit, Kauffman Center, Starlight Theater and the Asolo Theater.
Michele has taught various master classes, most recently at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, as well as jazz dance for ABT’s summer session. She also specializes in Dance Therapy classes.
